Don't Be Blue Repurposed Vintage Locket Necklace

Sometimes I have to wait a while for a necklace to take shape. This is one that has had to wait for just the right thing to arrive. In this case, the locket was the keystone and everything else fell into place!

So, the locket....it's quite gorgeous, opens from the top, has an incredible patina and has 5 clear stones (probably rhinestones) down the center and 3 sapphire blue stones (again, probably rhinestones) around the border. (Inside is the original photo that came with the locket, too!)

I wire-wrapped that, with gold-filled wire and a gold-filled stardust bead, a Swarovski crystal scalloped rondelle and a blue crystal bead, and attached it to a fabulous vintage repurposed brooch with an incredible shape and flower and....a blue rhinestone center! The perfect pair, both with floral motifs, both with blue stones. I love when that happens.

The "chain" is made up of more wire-wrapped groupings as described above, Czech crystal connectors in 3 sizes are interspersed with links from vintage chain. At the clasp are 2 vintage connectors with clear glass pear-shaped and blue round stones and then a vintage repurposed blue rhinestone brooch serves as the loop for the fish hook closure.

No reason to be blue. None at all. The necklace is 16" before the pendant/locket section.
