(Please leave a comment. But, only if it's nice, cause my delicate little psyche couldn't take it if it's not nice. Plus, you'll just feel crappy if you say something not nice and kharma is a bitch. I'm just sayin'.)

March is coming in like a lion…..

This Month
…And it better be going out like a lamb! It’s been a cold and blustery day to start March off with here in Northern Colorado. Yesterday was in the 60′s and mild and sunny and wonderful. Typical. However, bulbs are starting to push through the ground and have been for a couple of weeks. I’m hoping this is a good sign! I’m in the mood for some spring.
I’m working on some “behind the scenes” stuff around her and that involves my least favorite part of this business….PR. I am not good at self-promotion but it has to be done. Last week my ultra-talented friend, Andrew, took some photos of me for my new press kit. His specialty is destination weddings but, luckily for me, he is a friend and we exchanged services. Uh, let me clarify…I made him dinner and liquored him up and he brought me a CD with tons of head shots I could use for promotional materials!I have been letting my hair grow out for the first time in many, many years and realized I looked nothing like the photo that was currently “out there”. (Andrew took the previous photos, too.) I’m headed to NYC the first week of April and wanted to make sure that my current face matched my printed materials.

He’s a magician. (And British and adorable but let’s not go there).

Recently, customer Robin Schepf, snagged this bracelet, “Vintage Dogs Charm Bracelet with Red Dog” when I listed it on facebook as the daily 20% off special! She posted this sweet note after she received it:“So, I am sitting here this morning looking at my, oh so cool, dog bracelet. I am beyond thrilled. It is wonderful and adorable. Your packaging was so beautiful. I really feel as though I’ve received a gift. Thank you so much.”

Me so happy. Thank YOU, Robin!
And from customer, Joanna Kelley, who bought these, “Diamonds & Pearls Vintage Repurposed Earrings”, ALSO with a facebook daily special getting 20% off and free shipping!!!!

Joanna posted this on facebook:These are gorgeous, Paula! I love, love, LOVE them!!!You know the best part for me? Both Robin and Joanna were Rubber Baby customers and members of Paula’s Kit Club, too! Talk about loyalty!!!! I’m honored and touched.
February was a month filled with plans. I’m making plans for my future in all respects of my life. I’ll reveal more in the upcoming months as things unfold but, I’m definitely at a crossroads and, one thing I know for sure…I’ve got to shake things up around here. Boot camp was the start. I decided to let my hair grow out at the same time hoping that it would have the Samson/strength effect! I’m still working out 5 days a week and am addicted to it, frankly. What didn’t happen in February was I haven’t really had a chance to make any new pieces. However, I have many pieces laid out and ready to put together so check back in a week or so!

And…a reminder about this…not sure how many of you have heard of Pinterest. It’s an up-and-coming, social networking site but with a way cool idea. Pinterest is an online pinboard to collect and share what inspires you. Pin your favorite images and videos from anywhere. Discover new things hand-picked by people who share your interests. You sign up (it’s free, natch). You start pinning by grabbing images to put on your virtual bulletin board or boards.ming, social networking site but with a way cool idea. Pinterest is an online pinboard to collect and share what inspires you. Pin your favorite images and videos from anywhere. Discover new things hand-picked by people who share your interests. You sign up (it’s free, natch). You start pinning by grabbing images to put on your virtual bulletin board or boards.

Every product I have for sale has a little “Pin it” badge. If you click it you will be able to add that image to your bulletin board on Pinterest! You’ll see. It takes a minute at the most to set up your account. Plus, you get to follow people to see what their pinning, they can follow you, you can repin (basically, stealing their pins for your own board!). Every day someone “repins” one of my pins or starts “following me” (not in a bad way) and I’m seeing more and more pins on facebook.

It’s all too wonderful.

Please go pin me.

Have you been seeing these crazy little bit-mappy boxes everywhere lately? I have. I have an iPhone and downloaded an app called Scan to be able to read them. I know they have many versions out there for any smartphone. Anywho….they are called “QR Codes” which stands for Quick Response. I did a little research and…I made my very own QR code! Here it is. If you use your smartphone app to scan this little gibberish square it will take you to a secret place on my website with a very special coupon code which will change EACH MONTH! I’ve already posted it on facebook and had someone use it right away! So fun, right? Go see what the QR Code coupon is for FEBRUARY! (You’ll feel so geeky, I promise. And superior to those around you as you show off your technological prowess.) As my grandmother used to say, “You’ll grow a chest hair.”

For March I offer the following necklace at 20% off!

It’s called “My Little Nest Egg Vintage Repurposed Necklace” and it is 20% off for March or, well, until it’s sold since it’s one-of-a-kind! Perfect for spring and Easter! (It has baby birds in a nest!)

I’ve also made the monthly special include FREE U.S. SHIPPING!

The French, vintage, repurposed, celluloid brooch that is the pendant for this sweet necklace depicts a mother and father bird tending to their nest of new hatchlings in a nest. It’s very detailed and in perfect condition.I used vintage, celluloid beads that are roses interspersed with various sterling silver stardust beads, gold-filled stardust beads, crystal beads and more along with components from 2 different vintage, rhinestone bracelets and vintage crystal connectors to make the “chain”. The center is a vintage, celluloid dress clip with a floral motif. The clasp is vintage with yellowish rhinestones and hanging from that clasp are links from a vintage watch chain, a tiny nest with eggs charm and an amazing vintage, French steel button with a bird and tiny flowers.
Length from top of clasp to bottom of bird brooch is approx. 10″.
This necklace is normally $275. but through the month of March it is 20% off, making it $220 – a savings of $55! You must enter the code: MARS (French for “tulips”) when you’re checking out on my site and you will see the $55.00 deducted from your total if you have this necklace in your cart and FREE shipping, too, if it’s going to an address in the United States! (Overseas/Canadian customers use code: MARS2 to get the discount but with paid shipping).

Remember, all my jewelry is one-of-a-kind. There is only one of this necklace! Go get it!

My blog -”...mostly coherent ramblings from a girl who likes pretty things. And old things. And sparkly things. And pretty, sparkly, old things. And cheese.” is up. On Mondays, I will be changing quotes from 3 of my favorite quote books. These little quotes are on the left side of my blog. Check back on Tuesdays to see the new quote.

Taxi Driver Wisdom

Taxi Driver Wisdom has quotes from conversations with New York City cab drivers. Sometimes they are poignant, sometimes hysterical, sometimes philosophical.

On Impatient Passengers: “If you are always late, it is because you are trying to make things faster.”

Beauty Parlor Wisdom has quotes from conversations with stylists, barbers, manicurists, waxers, etc. Again, philosophers, all of them.

Beauty Parlor Wisdom

On Fatalism: “Bad hair never looks good and good hair never looks bad.”

Don’ts for Wives has tips from the early 20th century that offer advise on achieving marital bliss. We’ve come a long way, Baby.

Don'ts for WivesDon’t be jealous of your husband’s work. If he is any good, he is bound to be interested in it, and, after all, he is working for you.”

It’s been a while since I blogged. I don’t know why. I have stuff I could blog about every day. Since I’m not really lazy I’ll have to find some other excuse you’ll believe! Here’s one…I had to wash my hair. Yeah, I wouldn’t buy that either. Okay, I have no excuse but, somehow, I keep my days super busy and am trying to work on getting this jewelry biz some momentum. (I’ve got a big plan up my sleeve but don’t want to jinx it so I will not speak about it any further until and if (read more…)Go subscribe to my blog!
